Privacy, terms and disclaimer

Three things in one page: what Jyotirlinga Guide collects, how its content may be used, and what it is not. It is written to be read rather than skimmed past.

Effective date: 18 October 2026

Privacy: what this site collects

Short version: no account, no personal details, and nothing sold to anyone.

What is collected

Nothing that identifies you, and there is no account, sign-up or login anywhere on this site. When analytics is switched on, Google Analytics records a visit in aggregate: the pages read, roughly where in the world the visit came from, the browser and device, and how the visit was found. It does not record your name, your email or your phone number, because the site never asks for them.

What a cookie is used for

Analytics uses a cookie to tell one visit apart from the next, and nothing else. It is not used to follow you across other sites, and there is no advertising cookie and no retargeting pixel on this site today. A browser set to block cookies still gets every page.

Email you send

If you write to the address on the contact page, your message and address sit in that mailbox so a person can reply and can check what you sent. They are not added to a mailing list, not sold and not shared.

What is not done with data

Nothing collected here is sold, rented or handed to a third party for marketing. The only outside services involved are the analytics provider above and the affiliate programmes below, and each sees only what its own link or script sends.

Affiliate links

Some hotel and travel links are affiliate links, which earn this site a commission at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is the same whether you arrive through this site or directly. A commission never decides the order of a list: the cheapest option at a temple, usually the trust rooms or a dharamshala, is listed first even though it earns nothing.

External sites

Links out, including the affiliate ones, go to sites with their own privacy terms. Once you leave this site, what that site collects is between you and them.

Terms: how this content may be used

Short version: read it, plan with it, confirm the details locally.

What this content is

Informational travel content, offered as a starting point for your own planning. It is not an offer, a booking service, a travel agency or advice given for your circumstances.

Timings and prices change

Darshan hours, aarti slots, ticket prices, train times, room rates and closure dates change, often with the season and sometimes with a single notice. A page can be right when it is written and out of date by the time you travel.

Confirm with the temple trust

Before you travel, and again on the day, confirm the schedule you are relying on with the temple trust itself. Where anything on this site disagrees with the trust notice, the trust notice is correct and this site is wrong.

No liability for a trip plan

The site is not responsible for a missed train, a closed gate, a room that is not as described, a change in a festival schedule, or any loss that follows from planning a trip with these pages. Read them as research, then verify the parts that matter for you.

Reuse of text and photographs

The text on this site is not to be copied, republished or fed into another site or product without written permission. Photographs are not to be reused without permission from whoever holds the rights, and many of the images that will appear here are licensed rather than owned by this site.

Changes to these terms

These terms can be updated as the site changes. The effective date at the top of the page moves when the wording does.

Disclaimer: what this site is not

Short version: an independent guide, with no authority at any temple.

  • This is an independent guide. It is not affiliated with any temple trust, religious body, state tourism department or government office, and it speaks for none of them.
  • No priest, puja or ritual service is offered, arranged or recommended for a fee.
  • No guarantee is given about darshan: not that you will get it, not how long the queue will take, and not that a paid option will be available on the day.
  • Entry rules, dress rules and access at each temple are set by the temple and by the local administration, and they can change without notice.
  • At a large gathering, your health and safety are your own responsibility. That covers the crowd, the heat or cold, the walk, the water, and your own belongings.
