Twelve cities, each with its own page for Rameshwaram: the straight-line distance and the route that suits it.
The number on each city page is a straight-line distance, the "as the crow flies" figure between the two points on a globe. It is useful for judging whether a trip is a day out or a multi-day haul, and it is honest about what it is. It is not a driving distance and not a train distance: real roads bend around hills, rivers and forests, so the tarmac always runs longer than the straight line.
The route also changes with the season. Hill roads close in winter snow and heavy monsoon rain, and coastal roads can flood. The temple itself may close for winter, in which case the route to plan is the one to the valley or the town below rather than the gate.Data check pending
Use these pages to decide the mode and the day, then check the live map for the drive. For the last leg into town, the how to reach page has the railhead, the airport and what the final stretch looks like.
Each temple guide has its own city picker under From your city.
